'The Creative Laboratory for the Exploration of Medical Technology' (2023 - on going)

Platform

By Amos Peled and Job Santé.

This project is made possible by the contribution of stimulerings fonds creatieve industrie NLIn collaboration with residenties in utrecht, Kinderverhalenbank WKZ and The New Utrecht School.

Building on his personal experience as a patient who has spent considerable years in the medical environment, Amos Peled uses his shift in perspective from a patient to an artist and designer as the beating heart of his projects.

His motivation stems from a desire to transform the intimidating and unfamiliar nature of medical procedures into exploratory and creative experiences.

Following his motivation Amos has created CLEMT together with Job Santé. The long-term project works together with different parties that lie both within the medical environment and the artistic fields to create collaborations from which creative explorations within the medical field can occur.

Through approaches such as using medical ultrasound machines as creative instruments, the project seeks to democratize medical technology and challenge traditional hierarchical structures within the medical field.

The project questions concepts such as sickness and health: What does it mean to be healthy? what does it mean for different people? Does being healthy mean that all your limbs are attached? Or that your body and mind are symmetrical? Reflection on existing understanding in the medical environment through the lance of art and design.
